HISTORY 101

This building was built in 1845 and opened for business in 1846 as the Union Hotel when the Central Railroad of New Jersey first came to Readington.  In 1891 it was owned by L. P. Wooden and was known for its comfortable rooms and for being an overall lavish hotel. In the 1970's the train station became a part of NJ Transit and the train station became the town library.

After The Union Hotel closed, the building became a the home to several restaurants throughout the years.  The location was called Flamingo's when the popular television show "Kitchen Nightmares" came in and rebranded the place and named it The Junction. The changes Chef Gordon Ramsey helped revamp the restaurant and the owners maintained it for an additional two years before closing. The building was completely shut down for a year before (Brian and Don) purchased the place and created another restaurant and named it The Rail.  The combination of exceptional food, cocktails, entertainment and a great community made the beautiful historic building an excellent place to have great food and fun with family and friends.
